African
Studies Center at Michigan State University - The African
Studies Center at MSU is perhaps the most comprehensive
in the United States with 130 faculty specialists who have
worked in Africa. The Center encourages graduate and undergraduate
instruction and research about African society, politics,
economy, agriculture, history, arts, languages, communications,
literature, health, and education. The Center also organizes
many conferences, seminars, colloquia, and a weekly luncheon
lecture series. It publishes journals and newsletters, offers
information on study in Africa and on African colleges and
universities, and offers programs on Africa for college
and K-12 teachers, business and labor, the media, and the
general pubic. This is a Michigan State University resource.

- Posts 300 stories daily from African publications plus
special features - the largest electronic distributor of
African news and information. Stories can be searched by
country, region, or topic, or choose headlines for the day
from the whole continent.
African Media Program
at Michigan State University - The African Media Program
offers an on-line comprehensive reference guide to film,
video, other audio visual materials concerning Africa (Sub-Saharan
and North Africa). This is a Michigan State University resource.
Center for
Afroamerican and African Studies at the University of Michigan
- The Center for Afroamerican and African Studies (CAAS)
functions as an academic department and as three area studies
programs. It has its own undergraduate program, courses,
and faculty. It is also a home for interdisciplinary area
studies research. This is a resource from the state of Michigan.
Exploring
Africa - Africa, the second largest continent in the
world in both physical size and population, has for the
most part been "under" taught, marginalized and often grossly
misrepresented in our classrooms as well as in our media
and popular cultural. Our site challenges the status quo
by providing educators and students with content materials
and learning activities which allow for a comprehensive
study of the African continent and its people in their glorious
